Tanner Nielsen drove in three runs, including two with a home run in the second inning, to lead the Klamath Falls Gems to a 10-1 West Coast League victory over the Walla Walla Sweets at Borleske Stadium.
Holding an 8-1 lead going into the ninth, the Gems padded their lead after Nick Armenta drove in a pair of runs with a two-out double.Joshua Wong went 3-for-5 with two runs scored for the Gems (17-19), while Greg Velazquez, Joshua Graham, Connor George and Nick Rulli all drove in runs.
Shane Zeile went 2-for-4 for Walla Walla (14-22), while Beau Fraser drove in the Sweets’ lone run in the third inning with a double.
Luke West pitched 41⁄3 innings of relief for the Sweets, striking out six, but he allowed three runs on seven hits.
