1989 -- Damond VanWeerdhuizen hit an RBI single off Kennewick pitcher Tim Markham with one out in the bottom of the sixth inning to give Lewis River a 6-5 win in the Little League state championship game at Robinson Field in Kennewick. Lewis River took a 3-1 first-inning lead on Troy Shader's three-run home run, but Kennewick's Steve Schwan tied the game up with a two-run homer in the top of the third.
1975 -- The Kennewick All-Stars were eliminated at the Pony League Regional tournament 5-1 by the host team, Watsonville (Calif.), and then again by Land Park (Calif.) by a score of 8-3. Todd Baddley scored on Rick Safford's triple to cut the lead to 3-1 against Watsonville, but four errors hurt Kennewick's cause.
