1987 -- Rob Kuhta, Tom Lachmann and Steve Schuster had consecutive one-out doubles in the fifth inning to lead the Richland Knights to a 4-3 victory over Pullman in an American Legion doubleheader split. Pullman won the first game 5-0.

* 1972 -- Rhode's Runners capitalized on 10 Vacuum City errors to win the championship of the Women's Fastpitch Softball Tournament. The Runners were paced by pitcher Julie Moore, who stopped VC on four hits. Teammate Judy Moore was 2-for-4 in the game.

* 1967 -- Bill Sterett topped the day with 110.024 mph in his Hemi-powered Chrysler Crew during afternoon unlimited hydroplane speed trials on the Columbia River.
