* 1984: An overflow crowd of 8,000 watched as Juanita handed Kennewick a 14-7 loss in a Class 3A semifinal at Fran Rish Stadium. The Rebels earned their first trip to state thanks to two fumble recoveries, two interceptions and the running of tailback Kirk Steck. Running back Ty Fischer scored on a three-yard run for the Lions, who ended the season at 10-2. Juanita advanced to win Kingbowl VIII in Seattle on Dec. 1 with a 41-27 besting of South Kitsap.
* 1977: The Eastern Washington and Oregon ski seasons opened on schedule Thanksgiving Day with 20 inches of snow reported at Spout Springs in the Blue Mountains and 46 inches reported at Mt. Hood Meadows.
