On this date in Mid-Columbia sports history

* 1991 -- Donald Royal scored 24 points and Calvin Duncan added 16 points and eight assists, but it wasn't enough as the Tri-City Chinook lost its very first Continental Basketball Association game, falling 106-95 to the Omaha Racers in Omaha, Neb. Tim Legler had 16 points for the Racers.

* 1987 -- Kennewick's Mike Taylor rolled a 300 game and finished eighth overall at the West Seattle Open Northwest PBA tour event. Taylor finished with an 8-7-1 record and earned $430.

* 1975 -- Dan Moore hit Ron Wold for a 9-yard touchdown pass with 4:10 remaining and the CBC football team beat Everett 16-10 to clinch the Eastern Division championship of the NCCC.
