* 1982 -- Amy Simpson had 22 points for Richland as the Bombers routed Eisenhower 85-30 at Art Dawald Gym. Meanwhile, Mary Ann McCord, Marlene Price and Jerri Dionne helped Hanford clobber visiting Othello 72-27 in a Mid-Valley girls basketball game.

* 1981 -- Columbia Basin College freshman Dennis Patterson scored his team's final eight points, including a perfect 6-for-6 from the line, as the visiting Hawks clinched their second consecutive Athletic Association of Community Colleges league title with a 93-82 win over Yakima Valley. CBC improved to 22-3 overall and 9-0 in league to grab a spot in the state playoffs.

* 1978 -- Pasco capitalized on the hot shooting of Karen Murray (21 points), Tovia Robinson (18) and Tami Robinson (12) as the Bulldogs downed Kamiakin 65-46 in a Big Nine district tournament semifinal.

* 1978 -- Kennewick's Joe Wilson (129 pounds) extended his unbeaten streak to 17 victories with a 17-4 win over his Eisenhower rival, and Lions teammate Steve Polillo (135) defeated his Moses Lake opponent 5-2 as Kennewick captured the Big Nine district wrestling championship with 1161/2 points.
