On Jan. 26 in ...

* 2001 -- Defending state girls basketball champion Kennewick ran its winning streak to 43 games, beating visiting Walla Walla 67-29 in a Big Nine Conference game. Autumn Fielding scored 16 points, Emily Faurholt had 12, Leilani Mitchell 11 and Sara Johnson 10 for the Lions. Jamie Eggers led Walla Walla with 11 points.

* 1991 -- Jim Salmi made a 3-pointer with 4:42 left, giving Columbia Basin College the lead for good in an 87-82 men's basketball victory over Yakima Valley in Pasco. Don Flynn scored 20 points, leading four Hawks in double figures in the Northwest Community College Eastern Region game. Ryan Hope, who hit six consecutive 3-pointers in the second half, finished with 27 points for Yakima Valley.
