* 1979 -- The Seattle Seahawks' Ron Howard signed autographs from 5-7 p.m. at the Sports Arena in Kennewick.

* 1974 -- Columbia Basin College wrestler Greg Williams, at 450 pounds, pinned North Idaho Junior College's 360-pound "strongboy," Ray King of Stanfield, Ore., in "the battle of the behemoths" at the Pasco High School gym, but the Hawks still lost 31-9 in the dual meet.

* 1971 -- Wenatchee's Rocky Skalisky, Kennewick's nemesis on the football field the previous fall, did it to the Lions again, this time on the basketball court. Skalisky scored 25 points as the Panthers routed the visiting Lions 68-35 in a Big Eight Conference game. And in Royal City, Rocky Kallenberger was top Knight with 26 points to lead his team to a 90-82 victory over Kamiakin.
