* 1974 -- Five Kennewick wrestlers remained undefeated as the Lions squad won all but two matches to defeat Richland 45-7 in a Big Nine meet. Matt Wilson (101 pounds) moved his win-loss record to 5-0, Lanny Kruschke (129) 2-0, Jay McMullen (135) 4-0-1, Bob McCoy (141) 2-0 and Ken Schreves (heavyweight) 5-0.

* 1964 -- Former Columbia Basin College football coach Rod Enos turned down an offer to join Bert Clark's football staff at WSU to take a post as the Cougars' interim track coach. Enos directed the 1961 Hawks gridders to an undefeated, untied season (9-0-0) and high national ranking. But he was no stranger to track, having been a star sprinter and broad jumper during his collegiate career at Baker University as well as an assistant for two years under CBC track coach Sig Hansen.
