* 1979 -- The Columbia Basin Sportswriters and Broadcasters focused the spotlight on Kamiakin, selecting the Braves' Steve White (basketball) and Jon Mengelos (wrestling) as athletes of the week.

* 1979 -- Todd Shadler (101) got Pasco off to a good start with a 9-1 decision over his Kamiakin opponent to set the tempo for the Bulldogs' 39-8 win over the Braves in a Big Nine Conference wrestling meet.

* 1964 -- Former Pasco, Columbia Basin College and Gonzaga pitching star Rich Beck signed a contract with the Philadelphia Phillies. A rookie, Beck was out most of 1963 but briefly pitched at Little Rock, Chattanooga and Bakersfield.
