* 1978 -- Columbia Basin area wrestlers dominated a cultural exchange match last night, winning five of seven matches in the exhibition dual at Othello High School. High school wrestlers from Moses Lake, Othello and Royal City competed in the contest against the Japanese team sponsored by the Amateur Athletic Association. The Huskies' Randy Britt, Ruben Martinez and Dallas Spahr came through with the Basin's only pins. Moses Lake's Jamie Wise gave a strong performance with a 24-11 victory over his opponent, and the Chiefs' Mingo Deleon also came out on top, 11-7.

* 1970 -- Tri-City Dodge newcomer Marty Lythgoe had 28 points and Theartis Wallace scored 27 in an 84-81 AAU basketball victory over Battelle Northwest in the preliminary matchup to the Columbia Basin College-Yakima game that followed in Burbank. In that game, CBC's Steven Kammeyer scored 20 points and Rick Davis had 11 points and 11 rebounds as the Hawks earned an 81-72 Washington Community Colleges Conference win over the Indians.
