* 2000 -- Erin Tomaszewski of Richland and Stephanie Johnson of Kamiakin each qualified for individual final events at the 4A state swimming championships at Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way. Tomaszewski finished eighth in the 50-yard freestyle with a school-record time of 25.17 seconds. Johnson finished eighth in the 100 backstroke in 1 minute, 2.69 seconds.

* 1990 -- Kyle Reeves recorded a hat trick and Gord Frantti, Todd Klassen and Steve McNutt also scored as the Tri-City Americans went on the road to beat the Brandon Wheat Kings 6-4 and move into a tie for the Western Hockey League's U.S. Division lead.

* 1976 -- Kim Hogan and Hal Hoxie combined to rush for 201 yards and three touchdowns, leading Chewelah to a 28-12 win over Connell in the first round of the Class A state playoffs in Medical Lake. The loss was the first of the year for the second-ranked Eagles, who had beaten Chewelah 22-14 earlier in a regular-season matchup.

* 1968 -- Prosser running back Randy Ammerman ran for 162 yards and three touchdowns as the top-ranked Mustangs blanked Grandview 27-0 in the Class AA state playoffs. Quarterback Bucky Bruns, playing despite a sore ankle, hit Greg Dow on a 17-yard TD pass to open the scoring, but it was all Ammerman from there.
