* 2000 -- Kyle Mitchell hit Nathan Nichols for a 30-yard touchdown pass, giving Walla Walla a 13-10 first-half lead over Pasco before the Bulldogs responded with 20 unanswered points in the second half for a 30-13 win at Edgar Brown Stadium. Pasco quarterback Skyler Allen threw two TD passes and kicked two field goals as the Bulldogs improved to 8-0 in the Big Nine.

* 1990 -- Julie Meier and Alyssa Fishback scored second-half goals for Richland girls soccer team, which beat Pasco 2-0 in a loser-out district game at Hanford High School.

* 1981 -- Kennewick cross-country runner Dave Space broke the Lions' course record in a 20-37 dual-meet win over visiting Hermiston. Space crossed the finish line in 15 minutes, 51 seconds, eclipsing the existing record by seven seconds.

* 1968 -- Two Columbia Basin College athletes -- wrestler Greg Wilcox and football player Michael Hipa, both 20 -- were killed when their car smashed into a construction crane on Third Ave. and Gum Street in Kennewick, shearing off the top of their car. The two were from Hawaii.
