Letter: Zambrano-Montes death not a homicide

    ORDER REPRINT →

August 14, 2015 12:00 AM

The July 4 article “Bodies of adult, child found in burning car” indicates that these deaths would be the fifth and the sixth homicide cases in Franklin County in 2015.

The article goes on to indicate that Juan Melgoza was gunned down outside Fiesta Foods in Pasco on Feb. 4, and days later Antonio Zambrano-Montes was shot by Pasco police near the grocery store. Jason E. Smith, 36, was killed April 2 in a hit-and-run crash in Pasco, and a 12-year old boy died last month in a collision on a county road. Both cases have resulted in vehicular homicide charges.

The Antonio Zambrano-Montes death, as unfortunate as it was, has not been determined to be a homicide and this article should be rewritten to reflect that out of respect for the all those involved.
