The Washington state budget process is unconstitutional serving the 1 percent before the needs of the people.
Bottom line is that the legislators give away an estimated $13 billion of our tax money to the rich ($4 billion-plus) corporations ($7.5 billion plus the $8.7 billion to Boeing over 10 years) and the banks (estimated at $1 billion) before they even deal with the needs of the people, creating a humanitarian crisis with more than 30,000 homeless children in a year.
Our state budget is $17 billion and underfunded because of this illegal giveaway of our tax money. The Supreme Court needs to step in and make all tax breaks and expenditures unconstitutional, freeing up monies to serve all the people.
They need to reinstate the capital gains tax and a minimum state tax for the 12 billionaires and 118,000 millionaires to be fair to the rest of us. They also should mandate that all public funds be in a public bank, no more risking our tax money on Wall Street gambling.
