Mr. Whitson (TCH, July 20) doesn’t understand the fuss about (gay?) marriage. There are two views to this issue.
One view sees nothing wrong. The other views it based upon the truth of the word of God.
“Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:” See Ephesians 4:18. My understanding was once dark and I was ignorant because my heart was blinded. That causes one view. The other view comes through understanding because the heart is enlightened.
Jesus referred back to the Old Testament many times during his life on Earth saying, “It is written” and “This is done that the scriptures might be fulfilled,” referring to the Old Testament. The God of the Old Testament is the God of the new Testament. The “immediate” penalty for sin has been removed, but the penalty must be paid sometime.
