I was encouraged again in our young people becoming leaders of this great country when I read the June 21 letter about cellphones being bad for society.
I do agree on some of your distaste for cell phones. I am not a fan of them becoming an attachment to my ears or my fingers for texting and self-entertainment while waiting for appointments or in line at checkouts.
As you know the rules of self-control lie in each and every one of us. We choose to be inconsiderate, selfish and distracted from human contact. By these actions we rob ourselves of an extraordinary experience in our walk through this world. The sound of a voice that encourages brings joy and a touch of a hand that brings comfort and peace.
As you state as how life was before, changes do begin with one person. Encourage your family to shut off all phones for dinner time, one small step may lead to much love and joy!
