In a story July 8, Councilman Hoffman, apparently “seconded” by Councilman Larsen, decided that Pasco should have a policy whereby any person or business can legally refuse service to someone based upon the provider’s religious belief.
This is nothing but institutional theocratic bigotry — obviously not based upon state or federal constitutional provisions or enacted law — the result of representative democracy in this country. Such should not be enacted in Pasco or anywhere else; even South Carolina took down the Confederate flag from its statehouse.
If they persist, both councilmen should be defeated at the next election where either or both are running for re-election.
