How many more annoying, dangerous and illegal displays of fireworks do the citizens of West Richland have to put up with?
With one reported field fire and 47 firework complaints, it appears that nothing has changed from last year to now. The local police department continues to be untrained in discerning legal from illegal fireworks, and displays a lack of initiative in citing those who blatantly break the laws.
And how pathetic is it that we have an elected official who went as far as callously joking at a recent council meeting that the fireworks frightened his family’s new puppy?
This is cruel and self-centered behavior. Isn’t it time we quit protecting those who break the law, frighten children and animals and put people’s property and lives at risk? Fireworks in West Richland should be banned.
