The Tri-Cities is large enough now to be viewed as one city. We are diverse and have all the same problems seen in big cities.
We need a civilian police oversight panel that would be the police ombudsman office or group for the three cities and two counties. Citizen applications would be made to the governor’s office for selection of a certain term. The governor would make the choice of the police oversight members.
A few municipalities that have police oversight committees are Albuquerque, N.M., King County, Spokane, and San Jose, Calif.
Please contact the governor’s office — who in turn oversees the attorney general’s office — the ACLU National Director of Police Oversight, and The National Association for Civilian Oversight of Law Enforcement (NACOLE). Mailing address for the latter is P.O. Box 87227, Tucson, AZ 85754-7227. Phone: 317-721-8133. Email: email@example.com
