A jury should decide the Zambrano-Montes case. Instead, it's being tried in the court of public opinion, with only the three cops having representation.
The police investigated themselves, giving the three shooters three months to get their stories straight. Then Prosecutor Shawn Sant released the biased results to compromise any legal proceedings. It's a circle-the-wagons mentality as police and prosecutor protect their own rather than provide any justice in this case.
The three cops escalated a situation into a deadly faceoff and then sprayed a busy city street with bullets. It's miraculous that they didn't kill a bystander. They should have been fired immediately pending a trial instead of being given paid vacation.
Police Chief Robert Metzger should have been handed his walking papers long ago. His short tenure has been a disaster. Metzger's officers killed as many people in a year's time as all Tri-Cities police killed in the previous 30-plus years. His last three employers asked for his resignation. What is Pasco waiting for?

Until some corrective action is taken in Pasco, their police department will remain a disgrace to the whole Tri-Cities community.
