In regards to Mr. Ghan’s continuing outcry for a carbon tax (TCH 6-21-2015). CO2 is recycled on a daily basis by photosynthesis. Seriously Mr. Ghan? CO2 is present from the 1800s in today’s atmosphere. Wow!
The 40 percent increase of CO2 in the atmosphere equals 0.01256 percent of the total CO2 in today’s atmosphere. CO2 represents 0.0314 percent in today’s atmosphere. Nitrogen 80 percent, oxygen 18 percent, and argon at about 1 percent. Reducing CO2 emissions to zero would be catastrophic because plants would have no nutrients, ergo no oxygen. Please get serious.
Droughts, rainfall, storms and snowfall are cyclical. The worst hurricane in the United States wasn’t Sandy or Katrina but the Galveston hurricane of 1900. More than 8000 people were killed and billions in damages (circa 1900 dollars) were sustained.
And yet the carbon tax is going to save us all.
