The Lord has a case against the inhabitants of the land, because there is no faithfulness or kindness or knowledge of God in the land. There is swearing, deception, murder, stealing and adultery. They employ violence, so that bloodshed follows bloodshed. Therefore the land mourns, and everyone who lives in it languishes along with the beasts of the field and the birds of the sky; and also the fish of the sea disappear.”
Hosea wrote these words roughly 2,700 years ago to Israel. (Hos 4:1-3) There was no knowledge and fear of God in the land at that time. God used Assyria to destroy Israel, the northern kingdom, because the nation rejected God and went after false gods and idols.
In my lifetime, decisions from the U.S. Supreme Court removed prayer from schools, removed the Bible from the classroom, authorized the slaughter of unborn babies, and most recently sanctioned that which God calls an abomination (Lev 18:22; 20:13).
It saddens me to see that the fear of God has disappeared from this land. I fear God’s judgment on America unless we truly humble ourselves, repent of our national sins, and turn back to God.
