About two years ago, I wrote a letter to this paper concerning the poor designation of school zones in the city of Richland. I made several suggestions as to how I thought the zones could be made more visible to drivers.
Over the past few weeks, I have noticed that signs noting the end of the school zones are being put in place where none existed before.
Recently, when I left the Chief Joseph Middle School parking lot on Stevens Drive traveling north, I noticed that the flashing light was made visible to traffic in both directions. That had been one of my suggestions and now there is no excuse for a driver not being aware of driving in a school zone. I hope to see these types of lights in place at all school zones.
Thank you to whoever instigated these changes.
