I am a future graduate of Kennewick High School. I have come across an issue I believe can be solved, racial profiling. We see and hear about this on a daily basis in the media, newspapers and in schools.
When we sign up for any school, there is always the question, what race and ethnicity are you? This, to me, is where racial profiling begins. In the media, you mostly hear about how a black man or Hispanic was killed. The schools and government use words like minority. Schools compare how many “minorities” are in their schools. Government compares how “minorities” have increased every year.
One way to fix this would be to remove questions like what race or ethnicity you are. Same goes for police reports having blind cases meaning their ethnicity or image isn’t included in the report. The image leads police to profile them just based on how they look. The media needs to remove this as well because it leads to riots. Pasco or Ferguson, for example.
If we are all equal under the law and born equal, why not treat and see each other as equals. Remove race or ethnicity questions and comments.
