Regarding the three strikes example article about our government going too far when someone commits a crime. People who assault or murder can be released from prison after only serving a short time. Nonviolent offenses, such as burglary, can get life in prison.
It is unjust to keep a nonviolent criminal in prison, and release a murderer, when cases should be handled separately. Every offender is different.
I have a friend in prison now who I know for sure is innocent and has been kept two years overtime. Sentenced seven years, confused with another person in the same prison by mistake.
The system here in the Tri-Cities, in my not-so-humble opinion, needs vast improvement as well as the sick mental health system here that is a laugh.
