At 10 a.m. on Sept. 13, more than 200 West Richland residents and their friends came together at the city property on Austin Drive to work together and establish the Yellowstone Trail Community Garden. It was a beautiful sight to behold as the local community worked together, and a beautifully landscaped garden emerged.
The raised beds in the community garden were made possible with the support and direction of the city of West Richland and the generosity of our neighbors; Master Gardeners donated the design, Artistic Landscaping donated the wood chips, Mahaffey Construction donated the topsoil, Schulthies Farms donated the compost, West Richland Rentals donated the sod cutter and Home Depot donated the building materials. West Richland residents and the local ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints then turned out in force to donate the labor and make the Yellowstone Trail Community Garden a reality.
This project is an excellent example of just how much we can accomplish as a community when we all work together. I personally offer a sincere; "Thank You" to the city of West Richland and to all my friends and neighbors that supported this worthwhile effort.
