Letter: We need courage

We need courageous politicians, ones that will stand up for us against money, pressure and even threats of violence.

We now know that it would take less than 1 percent tax on 13 million U.S. millionaires to raise $175.3 billion to bring 222 million people in the United States up to the poverty line.

We now know that it would take less than 1 percent tax on 33 million global millionaires to raise $169 billion to bring 1.2 billion people in the world out of extreme poverty living on less the $1.25 a day.

We need courageous politicians to stop the world spending $1,735 billion on war in 2012, instead of alleviating poverty.

We need courageous politicians to stop giving away over 50 percent of our tax dollars to corporations and the rich.

We need courageous politicians to stop the fossil fuel, nuclear energy, GMO and tobacco companies from killing us.

We need courageous politicians to stop the militarization of the U.S., ban AKs, and mandatory background checks.

We need courageous politicians to protect our air, water, and land from polluting big businesses.

We need courageous politicians to make sure all people have equality and justice under the law worldwide.
