In responding to news article (TCH, Aug. 22) about taking down the blue bridge flagpole.
Tri-Citians check your archives further. The flagpole that was taken down Thursday, August 21, 2014, might have been 20 years old. That would make it put up there around 1994.
The first flagpole was put up in 1986, when the roadway was completely re-constructed, re-done, with the bridge being closed for six months. Before the bridge was opened to traffic in 1986, there was a ribbon-cutting ceremony in the middle the roadway to the raising of the flag to the music of The Star Spangled Banner.
