Among the letters to the editor, I really enjoy letters by Martin Bensky and agree with him wholeheartedly. I also enjoyed the March 30 letter by Jeremy Owen, "Choice over coercion." It really makes a person stop and think, and lots of people need to do just that.
And the other day, a cartoon on the same page caught my eye. It was about two corporate guys seemingly quoting biblical phrases, one saying, "Blessed are the undercompensated," and the other answering with "For we shall inherit the earth." And a newspaper folded nearby with the question, "Can corporations have religious beliefs?" in large print.
Somehow, I cannot believe they do, because if they do, they would almost certainly have a conscience. I really believe they worship the dollar sign.
I have known of several respectable businesses that sadly have been beaten out by corporations. It would probably amuse them to hear that, but it has caused job losses, which have caused other problems. I wonder, do politicians believe corporation are their friends? I wouldn't think so. In the grand scheme of things, we all end up the same way. We need to think about it and get them under control.
