Just a simple question here. Why does the glorious month of October, so alive with color, so blessed with mellow autumn sunlight, images of harvest and beauty at every turn, have to be marred by the ugliness of our contemporary Halloween observances?
Why the skulls, spiders, webs, death, and celebration of the occult? Why? Why not honor life and beauty rather than death and darkness? I don't understand it. October deserves better.
