The Zimmerman verdict was correct and courageous.
Correct because the jury applied the law correctly and courageous because the mob outside the courthouse did not influence the jurors decision. George Zimmerman was found not guilty because he was defending himself from great bodily harm, using deadly force, as provided for under the law. Zimmerman committed no crimes.
On the other hand Trayvon Martin broke the law when he attacked Zimmerman. Zimmerman's only was required to flee, which was not possible because someone was on top of him trying to pound the life out of him. One should notice that Martin's past was not brought up by the prosecution as it was too violent. Martin had bragged on a social network how he had beat someone up, however, he was unhappy with himself because he had not bloodied up the person enough.
President Obama is wrong. He could not have been Trayvon Martin. Martin was an out-of-control violent person in need of anger management classes. While it is sad that Martin lost his life, it would be sadder yet to take Zimmerman's freedom away from him for appropriately acting in his own defense.
