Letter: McMorris Rodgers rated

The Humane Society Legislative Fund, formed in 2004, is a lobbying organization associated with The Humane Society of the United States. Its function is to enable animal protection laws to be passed at state and federal levels, to inform the public about issues involving animal protection and to provide support for humane candidates.

Each year, the HSLF publishes the Humane Scorecard of Congress, available online, to give the public an idea of federal legislators' records with regards to animal protection issues. Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers' scores for 2011 and 2012 were zero. She has always scored very low.

While there have been victories for animals in the 112th Congress, some very troubling setbacks have also occurred. Animal welfare is very important to me personally, as well as for feeding people, research studies, trade and the future.
