Letter: Government spying has potential for politically motivated abuses

By having computer access to all telephone numbers called, we're able to computer generate terrorist contracts without actually look at the mail. By just studying what numbers people call and the web of connected calls, incredible compilations of actionable data is available.

For example, without eavesdropping and just studying the net of calls made by one tea party member, a workable list of membership can be established. Further data analysis will establish party officials and activists. This kind of information might be very valuable if that party gets out of hand. And what about those rascally Democrats?

Franklin said, "A people who give up freedom for security shall have neither."
