On Memorial Day weekend, the Tri-City Channel Cats were hosts for the 2013 Tri-City Invitational Swim Meet at the Pasco Memorial Park Pool.
There were 631 swimmers representing 22 teams from Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana, and I think Alaska, plus 9 swimmers unattached to a team, who participated. This meet was very well organized.
The 631 swimmers entered 4,247 races, and 158 entered relays. Parents and many others volunteered their time in various capacities to make this meet a success. Thanks to all of you.
Our grandson was one of the swimmers on the Tri-City Channel Cats team. Therefore, my husband and I and my 90-year-old mother attended his events.
Last year, meet director Todd Schaef helped us park in a roped off area for the convenience of my mother in a wheelchair, without us asking for assistance. He saw a need and supplied it.
This year, he met us at the gate and guided us to the bleachers where there was shade for her in her wheelchair.
Twice during the weekend, he brought her cold bottled water. We just want to acknowledge his actions for being so helpful to us. Thank you, Todd.
