It is illegal and immoral to deny rights to anyone because of sexual orientation. Since marriage is a right, it should not be denied to anyone because of sexual orientation. It's that simple.
I hear the idea that marriage is for the purpose of creating and nurturing children, and same-sex couples will not create children. Many married couples do not create children for one reason for another. Earlier this year I read of a 100-year-old woman getting married. Anyone can check this out by Googling "100 year old bride." Obviously this woman and her spouse are not going to produce children and no one that I know of has suggested they didn't have the right to get married.
My idea on marriage is that the parties take care of each other; "for better for worse, for richer for poorer; in sickness and in health," etc. Same-sex couple can do this as well as other-sex couples.
