The manufacturers' attempts to hide the inflationary trends are doing their best to appear as holding prices down. Lets go shopping:
Cheerios 8-plus ounces. Where has the 19-ounce box gone.
Nathan's Hot Dogs come seven wieners to a package. The buns come in packs of eight. Make this come out even.
The old 5-quart ice cream now holds four quarts. The half-gallon ice cream is now 13/4 quarts. The 5-pound sugar bag is four pounds. The bleach container, which used to hold a gallon, is now three quarts. And the old quart of mayonnaise is now 30 ounces.
Everything is watered down or puffed with air. Check the weight and count on paper products.
Test your memory next time you go shopping. How many changes can you catch?
We do not need the nanny state to control our portions. The manufacturers are doing it for us.
