RUTH STEACH, Kennewick
I am an old woman with a flawless driving record of 70 years.
I was waiting to turn left from George Washington Way. A panel truck hid the stop light and signs from my view. When the truck turned I followed it, noticing that the light was green. The nearest lane of traffic did not move. I was surprised when a truck came out of the other lane and hit me in the right rear.
The first words I said to the driver were, "My light was green." He replied, "My light was green, too." I responded, "There's something wrong with the system."
Yes, there's something wrong with the system when both of us had a green light. It is illogical. How many other people have been hit when turning left in Richland? Perhaps an orange arrow indicating caution or an orange light would prevent this.
At least I can get a good laugh from my friends when I tell them that I got a ticket and my car was totaled by running a green light. How logical is that?
