Pedophilia is a relentless and overpowering force that reaches out far and wide into the face of all that matters. Washington prisons have a disturbing percentile of sex offenders, most of whom see very little (if any) rehabilitation.
The Legislature would rather earmark nearly $10 million a year for the Odyssey/Integrity programs that are nothing more than "coerced" rehabilitation/in-house chemical dependency treatment centers that have nothing to do with treatment and have everything to do with holding as many prisoners past their release date as possible. It is job security running rampant.
The time for change within the Legislature is at hand, and the collective voice of you -- the public -- is a powerful and moving force to be reckoned with. In fact, your voice is so powerful that together it can create a much needed change in the right direction, toward holding sex offenders accountable, not only within the cloaked environment of prison, but within the community at large as well -- one forestalled sex offender at a time.
