I was miffed Monday when I attended a Kennewick Planning Commission meeting where they were going to discuss a zoning change that would effect me and many neighbors. In the past, there has been no comment allowed from the floor from visitors. All comment had to be presented before the city council at a future scheduled meeting. The planning commission chairman announced that she would accept some short comments from the floor. In Wednesday's Tri-City Herald I read that the city council will no longer take comments from the floor and all discussion must be presented before the planning commission.
Now I and my neighbors have lost our opportunity to have our say.
This has obviously turned out to be a win-win situation for the zone-change applicant. I talked briefly with the chairman of the board and she indicated that there was a legal notice published in the Herald that addressed this. Unfortunately they did not inform the information desk.
