Since the incumbent president has set the tone for economic class warfare, we hear his liberal mantra repeated again and again. How many times between now and November will we be told that the "rich" and "well-to-do" aren't paying their fair share of taxes?
President Obama is banking on the fact that there are lots more low-income voters who will believe what he is saying than higher-income voters who understand the truth. Rich or poor, legally we each have one vote.
The Wall Street Journal reported that the top 1 percent of taxpayers pay 90 percent of the income taxes collected. Here is a question for the mantra chanters: What percentage would you have them (rich guys and ladies) pay? 95 percent? 98 percent or go for broke, have them pay all the income taxes.
A tradition indicates that ownership enhances responsibility. Homeowners take better care of property than do renters. Is one of the causes of malaise in the United States because of the fact that so many of our citizens do not have a sense of ownership?
