Congress was recently debating House Resolution 4310, the National Defense Authorization Act, which contained provisions to outlaw Project Labor Agreements on federally funded jobs.
I contacted U.S. Rep. Doc Hasting's office, asking him to support a bipartisan amendment sponsored by Republican Mike Grimm of New York, which would protect Project Labor Agreements. I explained to him the importance of Project Labor Agreements to Hanford workers and the Tri-City economy.
Given Hastings' 6 percent lifetime voting record on labor issues, I was amazed I received a response. I was even more amazed when I read his response, which had nothing to do with my concerns but instead assured me that he was hard at work pursuing the Republican Party's latest witch hunt on Attorney General Eric Holder. Way to represent your constituents Doc! Has this clown ever had a real thought of his own?
