I am a longtime resident of Richland and I have a concern about the large parking lot at the south end of the Uptown Shopping Center.
I think that the south parking lot is very "handicap unfriendly." Of more than 150 parking spaces, only three are handicap parking spaces -- one at the southeast corner and two at the southwest corner.
There are only two ramps near the shops, one at the southeast corner and one at the southwest corner; that's it for the entire block!
There are many shops and businesses along that block, and I have watched many elderly and handicapped people struggle to get up the high curb that is in front of the doughnut shop, beauty shop, barber shop, shoe shop and several other businesses. What is wrong with this picture?
These businesses and their customers deserve better access. There should be two or three ramps along that block. That would solve the problem and show a more customer-friendly attitude, don't you think?
