I am an 85-year-old retired military man and wish to thank our community for the recognition they give our service people -- past and present. When we came back from Vietnam, we were not treated too kindly by the public in some places.
Now, I proudly wear a hat that reads "WWII, Korea, Vietnam Veteran," and many times people stop and thank me for my service.
On May 28, I was having lunch with my wonderful wife of 65 years in one of our local restaurants, and when we were finished, the waitress informed us that our bill had been paid by a gentleman in another booth. He shook my hand and thanked me for my service.
Yes, I am happy to live in such a great community as we have here, and I am proud to say, "God Bless America."
