Gary Boothe (Letter Best, May 20) suggests Republicans are the cause for "irresolvable disputes" in the Congress. That is laughable. One of the biggest disputes, or should I say jokes, in Congress is the president's budget. You would think Democrats would support it but the latest votes were 414-0 in the House and 99-0 in the Senate. No Democrat voted for the president's budget.
Martin Bensky (Letters, May 21) wrote that Republicans are "taking America in the wrong direction economically and morally."
President Obama and the Democrats own this economy. They have had more than three years to fix it, but it has gotten worse. The unemployment rate is higher than when Obama took office, there are fewer people working, and deficit spending is out of control.
But the moral comment is surprising and illogical. The Obama administration is being sued by more than 40 Catholic dioceses and organizations for violating their freedom of religion. The government is trying to force religious institutions to provide insurance policies that covers sterilization and contraceptive services. Nothing could be more immoral and repugnant!
Making the right political choice in November should be simple. Vote Democrat if you want big government, higher taxes, higher deficits, more regulations, partisan politics, little or no economy growth, immoral leadership and a disregard for the Constitution. Otherwise, vote Republican.
