A recent news story read, "Mississippi police fear that a killer posing as a police officer is pulling over motorists late at night on dark highways and then shooting them." This is more than enough reason to ban unmarked police cars for use for traffic control.
I've seen several around the Tri-Cities and have even been stopped by one, and it reminds me of a totalitarian regime that secretly spies and put us under surveillance. We need and want to know where police officers are. Seeing a marked car is safety reassurance -- an unmarked car is subversive and does not represent "Serve and Protect." Get rid of them for traffic control. Drug bust and the like are a different story, and that's where unmarked cars belong.
