I just wanted to express my disappointment that I had to go to the Spokesman Review to find unbiased reporting on the performance of the Tri-Cities' high school tennis teams at the Inland Empire Invitational. The Tri-City Herald highlighted the performance of the Kennewick teams without fully acknowledging it was the two Richland high schools that actually took first and second at the event. The Kennewick teams didn't even come close.
The Tri-City Herald's biased headline read, "Southridge, Kennewick win Inland Empire titles" and the second paragraph stated, "Richland and Hanford teams didn't fare too badly, either."
The Spokesman Review headline was not about their preferred teams but about the results of the event. It read "Hanford wins Inland Empire tennis tournament" and stated "Hanford's win in No. 1 doubles combined with a sweep of both boys and girls No. 1 singles highlighted a stellar performance by the Falcons, who won the team title with 186 points. They edged last year's winner, Richland, which finished with 176. Mead was third with 142."
It is just sad that even in high school sports the Tri-City Herald can't be trusted to fairly represent all three cities.
