It is great that Rep. Newhouse did not vote for the 2,232-page spending bill. He also was wise enough to oppose the Un-Affordable Care Act – the Act that most people cannot afford. With those premiums sky high and deductibles no one could afford, good for him.
Rep. Newhouse does have town meetings, although they are mostly in the Yakima area. He should get out here more. Then of course, he did have that Job Fair in Kennewick.
I have been able to question the representative many times. He was just at the Franklin County Lincoln Day Dinner, and he does send out a newsletter. Every time I have called his office locally or in D.C., his staffers are easy to reach and very attentive to my concerns.
In answer to a letter I read here at the Tri-City Herald, I do not believe a person should be demonized for being wealthy, nor should there be a question as to why he seems to be interested in farm issues. Many politicians feel more comfortable to be around what they are familiar with.
As a junior representative, Rep. Newhouse is doing just fine.
