Letter: Steve Lee deserved better treatment from Herald
I just finished running for city council in Pasco and even though I lost in my bid, I was proud to have represented my district in the campaign process. I was labeled a fiery activist by the TCH, which really didn’t bother me compared to what was done to Steve Lee and his successful campaign for a Kennewick city council position.
I found it disgusting that the TCH would actively work against Steve Lee by never referring to him as anything other than a “pot store owner.” You went out of your way to disparage a man who is generous with his time and money to help this area become a better place to live. It’s disturbing that the paper would attack a person’s character by implying that his business endeavors make him less than desirable. I can only assume that if I had owned a legal cannabis store, you would have referred to me as the “Mexican pot store owner” city council candidate.
You owe Steve Lee an apology because the city of Kennewick saw through your veiled insults and elected a great businessman and better person. Shame on you.
