Ode to Washington's poet laureate

There once was poet laureate,

Whose calling we sometimes forget.

He travels aroun' -

Tonight in our town -

If you miss it you'll surely regret.

He represents Washington state,

The fine arts to initiate.

He writes and reads poems,

And journeys from home,

To show us literacy is great.

If you want to be part of the show,

To WSU you should go.

At 7:30 tonight

There's also open mic,

You may hear the next Ivanhoe.

We apologize for this bad verse

An example could hardly be worse

We proved beyond doubt

What a laureate's about

And why they chose Sam Green and not us.
